What is CyberScholar?
CyberScholar.com is the #1 training website for retail sales professionals. Log on to www.CyberScholar.com to train with some of the biggest brand names in the industry and enter to win valuable monthly and quarterly prizes! In addition to great prize promotions (which include consumer electronics, computer and gaming equipment, software, thousands in cash and much more), CyberScholar.com also offers great training computer and consumer electronics categories, and a comprehensive Resource Center filled with supplementary selling tools and materials designed to help you improve your selling skills.
What is CEknowhow?
The CEknowhow training program, available exclusively on CyberScholar.com, was developed by the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) to help retail sales professionals like you better understand and sell consumer electronics products and technologies. This FREE 24/7 training contains many fun, interactive "edutainment" courses or modules at the category level - that is, information you need to know before you learn about specific products such as the key features and benefits available on products in the category, the key terms and technologies, and other essential information. For example, in the MP3 Players category, you can learn about MP3 Players and the five kinds of compatibility that you need to discuss with your customers before directing them to specific brands and models of MP3 players that will work for them. By completing each module and passing the quiz, you will EARN entries to great prizes. You can access a number of resources ( Job Aids, Glossary, Resources) and you will also have the opportunity to become a CE Certified Professional.
What is CEA?
The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) is the preeminent trade association promoting growth in the consumer technology industry through technology policy & standards, events, research, information distribution, promotion and the fostering of business and strategic relationships. CEA represents more than 2,000 corporate members involved in the design, development, manufacturing, distribution and integration of audio, video, mobile electronics, wireless and landline communications, information technology, home networking, multimedia and accessory products, as well as related services that are sold through consumer channels. Combined, CEA's members account for more than $113 billion in annual sales. CEA's resources are available online at www.CE.org, the definitive source for information about the consumer electronics industry.
How do I participate in the program?
To participate in the CEknowhow training program, you must first register for CyberScholar.com. If you have any questions regarding the registration process, please review the registration section below. Once you have registered, you can begin training right away! Simply select any category, choose a specific module and begin training. You may take the training courses in whatever order you choose, but we recommend that you go through the actual courses in a linear fashion so as not to miss any of the information. After you have completed an entire module by accessing each page, you will be able to access and complete the quiz. Completing a quiz earns you entries into a wide range of monthly and quarterly prize drawings for the chance to win thousands in cash and prizes. Successfully complete the entire training category and you will become a CE Recognized Professional!
How do I check my training progress?
To find out what you have completed and what you have yet to complete, you must first make sure to be LOGGED IN. Then, simply click on the Training Profile tab at the top of the home page. Your status in each category is also reflected in the course listing on each category page (e.g., on the Audio page).
What's in it for me?
Prizes! Knowledge! Better selling skills! Did we mention the PRIZES? When you complete a quiz, you EARN entries to win prizes. Also very important, once you become a CE Recognized Professional in a given category by completing all the training in that category, you will be able to print an official Certificate of Achievement acknowledging your accomplishment. You will then be prompted to enter your manager's contact information so that he or she can be sent an email alerting him/her to your certification status. Both the certificate and the email notification are accessible from your Training Profile page.
How do I access the training modules?
You can access them by going to each category page and selecting the module of your choice or to the Training Profile page that lists all the modules and selecting a module there. Note that you need to go through the entire module before you can access the quiz. And it is by completing and passing the quiz that you earn entries to win prizes.
What resources are available?
There are several kinds of resources available within the CEknowhow training program in addition to the category level training. ' Job Aids' contain highlights and/or summaries of the information in modules. Available as easily downloadable Adobe pdfs, they may saved to your computer, viewed or printed for later reference. The ' Glossary' lets you find the meaning of industry terms. And ' Resources' give you access to other sites, demo scripts, whitepapers and more. All the resources are listed on the Resources page. In addition, resources specific to each category are listed just below the modules on the category page.
What's in the Glossary?
Throughout this site's category-specific training, you may come across words and terminologies that you don't quite understand. The easy-to-use Glossary allows you to quickly look up words and improve your overall vocabulary with regards to various consumer electronics products, technologies and service plans.
I'm NEW to the site -- How do I join the CEknowhow Retail Training program?
It's easy! Simply click on the ' Join Now' page, which will guide you through the registration process. Once you are registered, you will have complete access to all the great training available on CyberScholar and the CEknowhow training program! Note: You must be officially registered in order to qualify for any prize drawings or special promotions.
Do I qualify to use the site?
If you are employed as a sales associate within the consumer electronics industry - or are simply a person who wants to know more about these exciting product categories - this training site is designed just for you!
What is my username used for?
Your Username is how we track your progress and eligibility to enter the various prize drawings and special promotions. Your password confirms your identity. You cannot enter to win prizes on CyberScholar without a valid username and password.
I'm not from the U.S. - can I still enter to win?
We're sorry, but as a result of current tax and legal issues, we are currently unable to award prizes to non-U.S. residents. However, you can still participate in the training and use the resources to improve your knowledge and increase your ability to help customers select products that are right for them.
How do I win prizes?
Each time you successfully complete a new / not yet completed CEknowhow training and quiz you'll earn one entry into a CEA-sponsored prize drawing. Check out the Prizes page for a complete description of our current prize giveaways and promotions. Each completed CEknowhow training module and quiz earns also earns you entries into any available monthly and quarterly CyberScholar-sponsored prize drawing.
Why haven't I received my prize?
Prizes are not sent out until after all information is verified and you have signed the appropriate legal forms. This process may take from 6-8 weeks. If you have not heard from a CyberScholar.com representative after 8 weeks, e-mail cekh@cyberscholar.com with the following information so we can speed up prize delivery: 1) your name and store 2) the month the prize was won, and 3) the prize sponsor (CEA) and prize description.
When do you post the winners?
It sometimes takes several months to verify the winners and post the information online. But don't worry -- if you are one of the winners, you will know long before the list is published.
How do I access the training courses?
To begin training, select any consumer electronics category listed. The individual training modules are listed on each category page. Select one and begin the training.
