The SD990 IS Movie Mode allows many sophisticated features carried over from the still shot options.
Movie Mode
The SD990 IS Movie Mode includes AF lock, AE lock, exposure shift, digital zoom (Standard mode only), Manual Focus, grid line display, continuous IS (Image Stabilization), continuous focus, auto exposure and WB. Movie files are smaller than with previous PowerShot models, yet image quality is equal or superior.

In addition to recording sound with its video files, the PowerShot SD990 IS lets users record sound alone
  • Sound Memos: after taking a still picture, up to 1 minute of sound recording is possible. Use it to describe the scene just photographed, names of people in the picture, or even record ambient sound. Sound memos are played back in Canon�s supplied software.

  • Sound Recorder: Use the SD990 IS as a �tape recorder�. Record up to 25 hours of sound on a 2GB memory card, with individual sound clips up to 2 continuous hours. Recording quality is adjustable as well, via a menu setting.
