The EOS 5D Mark II was the first digital SLR to offer Full High Definition, 1920x1080 Video recording capability in the universally familiar, easy-to-use SLR format. Introduced in the fall of 2008, this professional camera completely changed many users’ expectations of the creative images possible with a digital SLR.

The addition of this capability enhanced the attractiveness of an already widely sought-after, highly regarded and reviewed camera and opened a whole new market for Canon: the Video Crossover Market.

The EOS Rebel T1i is the least expensive digital SLR with full 1920x1080 movie capability.* Photographers will be able to create high quality video using Canon's huge arsenal of lenses through an interface they are used to working with. Photographers will also be able to capture normal, high quality RAW or JPEG still frames while the movies are recording.

Still Images During Video Shooting

Like the EOS 5D Mark II, the new EOS Rebel T1i allows the photographer to shoot still images during actual video recording, by simply pressing the shutter button.
Still image is captured without having to stop video shooting and manually restarting. Exposure is always fully automatic on these still images, and they’re shot at the quality setting in effect at the time video recording began.

Like the EOS 5D Mark II, video files from the EOS Rebel T1i have a unique quality to them — excellent color and detail, along with superb performance at low light levels. With a lens like Canon’s EF-S 10-22mm zoom, dramatic ultra wide-angle video images are possible, an effect difficult to duplicate on many video camcorders.
