GPS navigation devices always know the way, even when the driver doesn't. GPS has become a standard feature on phones, new cars and dedicated GPS devices.
Guided by signals from orbiting Global Positioning Satellites (GPS) and built-in mapping software, navigation devices are able to determine a user's exact location, direction and speed of travel. They can calculate the best route to a particular destination, give turn-by-turn directions and even locate nearby businesses and other points of interest (POIs).
Not just for drivers, navigation devices can also plot and track a user's position on various types of maps, like street, waterway, trail and contour maps. This makes them useful for driving on a road trip or figuring out the best bus route to take to meet friends.
