In order to fully experience Blu-ray Disc™ technology, you need to make sure your customer has the right equipment:

HDTV
The big advantage to Blu-ray is high-definition video, which means your customers need a 1080p HDTV to enjoy it on.

AV Receiver
To listen to Blu-ray's soundtracks at their highest fidelity, customers will need an AV receiver. Many affordable AV receivers now include Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio decoding.

Surround Sound Speakers
Your customers will not be getting the full Blu-ray experience unless they have a surround-sound speaker system.

HDMI Cables
It's easy to forget when a customer is buying all this equipment, but they need a way to hook it all up, too. The easiest way to connect the Blu-ray player to the HDTV and AV receiver is to use an HDMI cable, which is capable of carrying both 1080p HD video and high-resolution audio.

Other Options
Depending on the capabilities and special features of the Blu-ray device they're purchasing, you may want to make sure your customers have the following:

  • High speed internet connection - Ethernet or wireless LAN
  • 3D TV and 3D glasses if they're purchasing a device that supports 3D
